ADELDI, British Council ready to graduate shoe and bag making trainees in Maiduguri
The Amina Dikwa Entrepreneurship and Leadership Development Initiative (ADELDI) will on April 5,2019 hold a graduation ceremony tor the first batch of its shoe and bag making trainees in Maiduguri. The event which is being organized in collaboration with British Council and Kalthum Foundation for Peace is expected to take place at the Conference Hall,Dujima Hotel,Maiduguri.
The trainees were trained on shoe and bag making for two months at the UN skill and acquisition of Future Prowess, Maiduguri by renowned resources persons.The organizers of the project intend to sustain this skill acusition program consecutively till the end of 2019.
Dr. Amina MB Shehu,Chairperson of ADELDI said, “We are hoping to sustain this project from now till the end of 2019 even though the cost implication is very high and we have not been receiving any support from the government.What we want is for the beneficiaries to make good use of the knowledge they have received and the start up parks we will provide for them to start small businesses on their own.”
Hajiya Zara Goni, State Team Leader of the British Council’s Managing Conflict in Nigeria who is expected to grace the graduation ceremony as a Special Guest said that the training program is a very laudable project because of the emphasis it puts on women empowerment. “This is the kind of initiative we want to see.We hope to collaborate with ADELDI through KFP and see how we can sustain this training program in Maiduguri where it is direly needed,” said Hajiya Goni.
The Commissioner of Rehabilitation,Reconstruction and Resettlement,Arch Yarima Saleh is expected to serve as Special Guest of Honor at the event.
