The presidential committee on the northeast initiative PCNI has since its inception in October 2016 has contributed immensely to human capital development and social infrastructure to the people of the northeast region through partnership and collaboration with international organisations and other indigenous NGOs and CBOs in areas of Health,Re-settlement,Job creation,Education,Peace building and Security to mention but a few.

It is interesting to know that these interventions and partnership has exposed PCNI and good activities in the northeast sub region.

In the area of health care, Provision of health equipment and consumables to general hospitals in Borno,Yobe,Adamawa and Taraba States, supply of HIV kits,mosquito nets and supplements to address cases of malaria and malnutrition in the states. There was medical screening for both care-givers and children; at the Children’s Trust Center which was supported with 78 million Naira for the sustainability of the Children’s Trust Center.

In a crises turn zone, settlement is key in bringing the people together once again to their ancestral homes. PCNI has committed to supporting the resettlement of the people in collaboration with the Nigerian Military,NE MA,FMOH and other stakeholders.
PCNI has supported the reconstruction of road between Maiduguri and Bama and provision of building materials for Bama returnees. It has also developed a Strategic Return Framework for voluntary return of displaced population to safe and ready locations.

In patership with Nigeria Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), a 90 home community in jere local government area, Borno State was successful.

The PCNI has facilitated the distribution of donated relive material by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), to Internal Displaced Person’s (IDPs) In Borno State.

The presidential initiative has collabroted with the UN Habitat in organising training for consultants and stakeholders on rural settlement planning and programmes.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with Bank of Industry (BOI) for the Northeast Small and Medium Enterprises to benefit from the government enterprise and entrepreneurship programmes(GEEP).

It under-took the upgrading of some ICT Centers and supplied them with ICT tools and equipment worth 136 million Naira to College of education Biu, Federal College of Education Yola and Federal University Gasua Yobe state.

It has also trained 1 ,200 youths in ICT related skills; including digital design and mobile device repairs in Adamawa,Borno and Yobe state. Has executed and MOU with Bretagne Filieres and Marl Invest of France to develop a roadmap for agricultural development in the Northeast. To commence implementation of roadmap for agricultural recovery.

PCNI has procured 63 tractors under its Tractorisation Mechanization Programme, to bringing back farming and availability of food across the Northeast.

There was an MOU with Leadership Wealth for Entrepreneurship and Skill Acquisition Programme for the Northeast to access CBN youth enterprise development programme loan.

Indeed education is the bedrock of socio-economic and political development and PCNI is not left out in this sector. It has retained 1,200 Primary school Teachers across Adamawa, Yobe and Borno States to enhance quality delivery capacity. There is also a plan for phase two(2), targeting 2,100 teachers to include Bauchi State.

The presidential initiative has provided educational materials across the Northeast to 67,500 students and 6,700 teachers to aid learning and teaching respectively. 17 primary and Day Secondary Schools were reconstructed across some states of the northeast. It has sustain the support for the Safe School Initiative (SSI) across the Northeast.


The Presidential Committee on the Northeast Initiative( PCNI) was able to develop a sustainable Peace building frame work in patership with United States Institute for Peace (USIP), and the Center for Democracy and Development (CDD).

It has facilitate police-community dialogue bringing together traditional and religious leaders Including civil security outfits in Borno,Yobe and Adamawa states. Signed an MOU with Green Horizon in Transitional Justice,Social Cohesion and peace building in Borno,Adamawa and Yobe states, in conjunction with Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). Their was also an MOU with CDD to provide support to victims and perpetrators of Boko-Haram Insugents under Operation Safe Corridor programme.

Other programmes like strategic communications was also part of her acivement in training of media and security organisations including 1,200 media practitioners for humanitarian reportage. programme aired in local languages for public enlightenment.

In conclusion, the PCNI in a short span of time has achieved grately on impacting skills and soco including social infrastructures, economic empowerment and security.
