The Army has defeated Boko Haram since December,2016 but what is giving Borno residents worry is how the terrorists are still able to carry out hit and run attacks in some parts of the state.Observers said that some communities are not collaborating with the security agencies as they should.Otherwise Borno ought to be quiet like Yobe and Adamawa state

Boko Haram terrorists on Wednesday 26th December 2018 attacked the headquarters of 7 Brigade Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF),  Baga, Borno State, at about 7.00 pm. The troops along with the Nigerian Navy put up a very determined fight to repel the attack throughout the night, while Sector 3 Operation LAFIYA DOLE  sent in reinforcement who are in hot pursuit of the terrorists. Similarly,  a Search and Rescue team has been constituted by the military. 
The Nigerian Air Force component has also been mobilised and are engaging the fleeing terrorists. We reliably gathered that a naval personnel was killed in action. So far, no  further details of casualties yet as efforts are on going to clear the terrorists hiding in Baga and environs.
In a statement made available to the media by the Spokesman of the Nigerian Army,Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman,the Nigerian Army admonished locales to remain calm as the situation is fully under control. “We enjoin all to remain calm as the troops conduct clearance and mop up operations. We implore members of the general public to disregard any contrary information circulating on the attack. We will keep you posted with development on the pursuit and mop up operations,” said General Usman.
