In an interview with mallama Hauwa a mother of five she said, “Kuka is the easiest soup to prepare in her home because it doesn’t require a lot of money before you make the soup and it can be eaten with any kind of food weather tuwo, kuskus, rice, or even ebba.” She went to add that, “It can also be prepared with any kind of meat or fish and if one has no money for meat one can use beans in place of the meat. You can also make the soup with both meat and fish. Making the soup is so easy as it doesn’t require much time. My family enjoys it very well.”
Modu Ali is a Kuka seller, he noted that, people come to buy Kuka from him every day. “I enjoy selling it because I make a lot in the business. Our people here in the north like it very well; every house you go to weather they are rich or poor you will see this powder in their kitchen. In fact Kuka is for everyone.” He revealed that, his wife always makes Kuka soup because it is delicious and it doesn’t take much money to prepare it at home. Apart from using it for soup they also use it as medicine for cough and fever, this powder has become part of us.
Madam Mary added that she preferred Kuka soup than any type of soup. “I always have the kuka powder with me; it is my favorite. I also use the powder in making danwake. It is affordable. We Nigerians value Kuka powder very well and our people who are outside Nigeria always request for the baobab powder whenever we visit them. The packaged Kuka powder will help a lot because you can travel to anywhere with it.”
